Delta baggage policy is quite standard as you enjoy free Delta baggage allowance for some domestic flights. Delta carry-on baggage policy

The Delta carry-on baggage policy states that the passengers are allowed to carry along one bag and one personal item (briefcase, purse, laptop, or camera bag) without paying any fee/charges.


Delta airlines baggage rules and regulations for carry-on baggage:

  • Delta Airlines carry-on baggage size must not exceed 45 inches in total (22*14*9 inches) or 115 cm in total (56*36*23 cm) inclusive of the handle and wheels size.
  • The Delta carry-on baggage must fit completely inside the overhead space or under the front passenger’s seat.
  • The personal items should also fit in properly under the seat of the passenger in front of you.
  • Items such as a diaper bag, jacket, umbrella, assistive gadgets (walkers, strollers, child restraint seats, crutches, etc.) and duty-free items are not counted under the carry-on baggage allowance.

  • Passengers are allowed for two bags as standard and up to the limit of 10 bags (4 bags maximum for Delta connection).
  • The Delta checked baggage size must not exceed 62 inches in total or 152 cm in total (length +width +height).
  • The Delta baggage weight limit for checked baggage is up to 23 kilograms or 50 pounds in total.

  • 40 $ for 2nd checked bag
  • 30 $ for basic economy fare

U.S, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and South America (excluding Brazil) to/from Israel:

  • No fee/charges for 1st checked bag
  • 100 $/CAD 1 for 2nd checked bag
  • When exiting from Canada and converting to the local currency, 1 CAD is applicable.

Caribbean, Central America, and Mexico to/from South America (excluding Guyana):

  • No fee/charges for 1st checked bag
  • No fee/charges for 2nd checked bag

U.S, Mexico and Canada to/from Oman, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, pakistan, Jordan, Afghanistan, Yemen and Iran:

  • No fee/charges for 1st checked bag
  • No fee/charges for 2nd checked bag

Canada or U.S to/from South America (excluding Ecuador and Guyana):

  • No fee/charges for 1st checked bag
  • No fee/charges for 2nd checked bag

U.S to/from Canada:

  • 30 $ for 1st baggage
  • 50 $ for 2nd checked baggage
  • When exiting from Canada and converting to the local currency, 1 CAD is applicable.
  • Please note that there is a limitation of only one checked baggage for the passengers travelling to/from Key West or florida.

Canada or U.S to/from Bermuda, Central America, Guyana, Caribbean, and U. S. Virgin Islands:

  • 30 $/CAD 1, 2 for 1st checked bag
  • 40 $/CAD 1  for 2nd checked bag
  • When exiting from Canada and converting to the local currency, 1 CAD is applicable.
  • The passengers who are traveling between Los Angeles and Guatemala city don’t have to pay any fee/charges for the 1st 2 bags.

Delta baggage fees for excess bags

The Delta Airlines baggage fees for 3-10 bags are as follows.

U.S. Virgin Islands, U.S, Puerto Rico and Canada:

  • 150 $/CAD 1 for 3rd checked bag
  • 200 $/CAD 1 per bag for 4th to 10th checked bag
  • When exiting from Canada and converting to the local currency, 1 CAD is applicable.

Asia – To/From/Within:

  • 200 $/CAD/EUR per 2 bags for 3rd to 10th checked bag
  • When exiting from Canada or Europe and converting to the local currency, 2 CAD or EUR is applicable.

Canada, U.S, the Caribbean, Central America, and Mexico:

  • 150 $/CAD 1 for 3rd checked bag
  • 200 $/CAD 1 per bag for 4th to 10th checked bag
  • When exiting from Canada and converting to the local currency, 1 CAD is applicable.

Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean:

  • 150 $ for 3rd checked bag
  • 200 $ per bag for 4th to 10th checked bag

Brazil – To/From:

  • 200 $/CAD/EUR per 2 bags for 3rd to 10th checked bag
  • When exiting from Canada or Europe and converting to the local currency, 2 CAD or EUR is applicable.

Delta overweight baggage fee

Delta overweight baggage fee is applicable when the bags exceed the standard weight limit of 23 kilograms or 50 pounds on domestic U.S flights.

  • 100 $ per bag for 24-32 kilograms or 51-70 pounds.
  • 200 $ per bag for 33-46 kilograms or 71-100 pounds.
  • No bags exceeding the total weight of 46 kilograms or 100 pounds are allowed as checked baggage on any of the Delta flights.

Delta airlines charge a hefty amount of 200 $ per bag that are between 63-115 inches in total or between 160- 292 centimeters on all the domestic flights to/from the U.S. Bags exceeding 292 centimeters/115 inches in total are not allowed as checked baggage on any of the Delta flights.
